Health & Safety

Work of Iron takes health and safety very seriously and has taught hundreds of students and never had any injuries worse than a minor burn, we want to keep it this way so please read the following carefully.

Blacksmithing involves working with high temperatures, sharp tools, and potentially dangerous materials, requiring participants to take safety precautions.

Participants are responsible for their own safety due to the inherent hazards of the craft. This includes being mindful of the safety of other students and using provided safety equipment and instructions correctly.

Blacksmithing is physically demanding and participants will be expected to get there hands dirty, however there is no pressure, and we will work at a comfortable pace, an instructor will be on hand to help, demonstrate, and give guidance, at all times.

On the course your instructor will explain and demonstrate how to work safely in the forge, these instructions will need to be adhered to but please do ask if you are unsure or concerned about anything.

Should an injury occur our instructors are first aid trained and will be on hand to assist.
